For my second look, I choose to do the Pocket Fold Skirt. I loooved the lines of this pattern right of the bat! But wasn’t sure if A would be into wearing a skirt, but lately she has grabbed her skirts more and more often, which I was really happy to see! And couldn’t wait to get cutting on this one!
For this piece I sewed up a size 7. I think I forgot to wear my glasses and didn’t line up the right size to measurements on the chart because it wound up being a tad big on her. In hindsight, I should have sewn a size 6! But oh well, it’ll just fit longer. And I had it in mind that this would become more of a fall/winter piece for her anyways. The fit and pattern is really good again!! Serioulsy, I can’t say enough about Olu and Anna’s designing skills… These ladies seriously rocked it for this collection!
For the fabric, I used a vintage floral baby wale corduroy that I had in my stash already and paired it with a quilting cotton solid, that again, was in my stash and that I got locally. I love how the skirt allows for just a little bit of contrasting in the back yoke and the pocket details with the lines it includes. It’s seriously one of my favourite details. I also opted to hide the buttons on the inside of the skirt front so it wouldn’t distract from the fabric. Although now that I look, I find my fabric may be a tad crazy! Oh well, live and learn.
I honestly don’t think my pictures do this look any justice! A was a bit finicky about taking pictures this second time around, and the mustard tee I had originally planned to go with it (so that all 3 pieces from both looks coordinated well together) kind of gotten eaten by my serger…. Man that paper thin jersey wasn’t easy to work with sometimes!!! I think though I may be lucky and be able to squeeze one more tee out of it…. We’ll see 😉
