I told you I had a goal of 2 to 3 pieces for Kid’s Clothes Week, well, I semi achieved this goal….it just happened that I ran out of elastic sunday night and then my internet was down yesterday so I couldn’t post about it 🙁 But anyhow…. for my second piece, I wanted to make some shorts for L (since he has few new ones of his own…) and I was dying to use Dana of Made‘s pattern for KID shorts. I used her tutorial for pants (and made them into shorts) about two months ago and was really pleased with the result, so when she announced this new pattern I couldn’t wait to have a go at it!
I had some denim laying around and decided to up the factor and put on front pockets! The awesome thing about Dana and her pattern is that she posts all the instructions on her website, including all those extra ones for front pockets, back pockets, etc…! (so you don’t need to have a million pieces of paper around your sewing machine or worry that they’ll get lost). Now size wise, I opted for the size 3, since L is a pretty big 2 year old (yup…2 as of tomorrow!!!). I must admit, when I started sewing it up and getting close to the finish line I started worrying that it would be way to big on him, but I worried for nothing! It’s a little big, but just like I wanted since we only have another month or so left of summer and want them to fit for next year.
Overall I am SOOOO pleased with this pattern! I’ll definitely be making more for the boys and try to squeeze A into some as well (since she’s more picky with her shorts).
