The Charlie is Farrah of mingo & grace‘s first pattern. And it is put together so well! I had a blast getting a chance to put it together. And also learned a new way to finish off the interior, bias binding instead of a bodice lining. Which makes this suuuuper easy!
A quick little fact about this dress, Farrah named this dress Charlie after being inspired by what the girl characters of the Peanuts wore throughout the comics….have I mentioned I’m a fan of Charlie Brown and so are all the kids?! That’s just a bonus in my books!
This dress is really fun, and has awesome twirl factor! When I brought A outside to take photos she almost immediately started twirling in it… Which luckily I got at least a few good pictures of that to go through for you guys 🙂
For this test, I sewed a size 5, and it fits great overall. The length is perfect! I may just sew up a size 4 to see how it rests on her shoulders, but that’s just personal curiosity, since it fits her great as is now. The fabric I used was a fabric I grabbed during another one of Rachel of imagine gnats IG destash sales. I’m not too sure what it was (I wish I could remember), but it’s a quilting cotton weight and sewed up really nice. I also used some aqua bias tape for the button loop at the back that gives it a bit of a pop, since I couldn’t leave that pretty button to ‘hide’ against the fabric.
